WHAT do you plan to do that is good & worthwhile & lasting?
My brother, Ian, and me on vacation a few years back.
After my brother, Ian, passed away in March 2015, I began to reexamine my life and its purpose. We all are given skill sets and gifts from God as well as passions for certain occupations and hobbies, but are we using them to bring glory and people to Christ?
That nagging question ran through my mind for months following his passing.
After reading Ian's favorite book, Crazy Love, by Francis Chan, I laid awake one night pondering ways to both honor my brother and Christ. Since we all have different missions, I came up with organizational name, "It's My Mission," at around 2:30 in the morning. Minutes later, I realized the name was perfect: the acronym, his initials. I thought it must be Heaven sent.
So I went to work figuring out how best to utilize the website and the grassroots organization. It's My Mission will plan 2-4 service projects each year (which will be based on unique skill sets) to bless different communities and individuals. I hope you take part in a service project with us.
My grandfather was a pastor and years ago I found an old tape he used to record his sermons. Only one portion of the tape remained audible, and it was a New Year sermon from 1983. He challenged his congregation to ask themselves these simple questions in regards to their resolutions: "What do you plan to be doing for others, and what do you plan do for the Lord? What do you plan to do that is good and worthwhile and lasting?"
Join us in projects that I hope are good and worthwhile and lasting.
